Here at the School of Global Affairs, we want to ensure that everyone knows about the value of language learning.
We want to make sure that some of the best and brightest young people choose to take up languages not only in schools but also at university level. We offer a wide range of talks, careers information and hands-on learning activities to secondary schools, colleges, and the general public.
All of our activities are specific to a particular learning stage. For example, we give talks to sixth formers to explore with them the various ways languages may be studied at university and to answer questions from students on the UCAS process. Presentations on the theme of ‘Why study languages’ and ‘Careers with languages’ are delivered to schools throughout the academic year.
In collaboration with Lancaster University’s Recruitment and Outreach team and the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, we put on Taster days and summer schools for those thinking about going to university. For more information visit our Schools and Colleges webpage.
Do contact us if you would like us to contribute to any activities that would benefit language study in your institution.
If you are interested in a Chinese language and culture themed day at your school or on campus, contact the Confucius Institute ci@lancaster.ac.uk.
