Accessing support

As we begin the new academic year, this is a reminder about who to contact if you need support.

Emergencies

If it is an emergency and someone is at risk call 999 for the Emergency Services. Afterwards, if you are on-campus, please call 01524 594541 for Security Reception (or 444 from any University telephone) to let them know (this is to ensure they can direct the Emergency Services appropriately on arrival). You can also contact University Security on Microsoft Teams. If you are unable to use a phone or Teams, speak to the College Porter.

Mental Health Crisis

In the event of a mental health crisis, you may wish to call the Lancashire and South Cumbria Foundation Trust Wellbeing and Mental Health Crisis line on 0800 9530110. You can also call The Samaritans on 116123.

Medical advice (non-emergency)

If you need medical help, but aren't sure that it classes as an emergency, call 111 to receive appropriate triage and support from the NHS.

All of the phone numbers given here are staffed 24 hours a day, every day.

Mental Health, Wellbeing and Advice line

The 24/7 Mental Health & wellbeing Line is available 24/7, 365 days (366 days during a leap year), so help is always available at a time which suits you.

Information and advice line is available from 9am-9pm (legal and financial matters) and open from 9am-5pm (Mon-Friday) for medical information.

Unisafe

Lancaster is relatively safe but sometimes incidents do happen. The Unisafe form allows you to report events you wish the University to be aware of, whether harassment, bullying and discrimination, safeguarding concerns, property damage or a more serious assault, including sexual assault. The Student Wellbeing Services team receive all reports and will respond to them.

ASK and Wellbeing Drop in

The ASK team can offer students guidance and signposting on a wide range of issues and make appointments with specialist colleagues where needed. You can call via phone, email, have a live chat, make appointments or see someone in person.

Furness College Advisor Team

The team will respond to queries throughout the week and help is available for all types of difficulties. No issues are too big or too small, so if you need someone to talk to then please do get in touch at furnesswelfare@lancaster.ac.uk. For more information about the services on offer visit Furness Welfare and Support.
