the capital leaf becomes a huge                                       
round one a completed rose. remaining a ridge in lobes                The 13th. lions heads same as 6th
                                                                      but still [worse?] worked and looks restored

on 16th			are precisely the                                           drill holes in eyes. & smooth chiselling
				same. but                                                         On the 13th rough chiselling open drill holes

                                                                      in eyes more open & the eyes have
                                                                      lions & mens are haired in the 13th
                                                                      16th but clean & smooth in 3rd & 6th

                                                                      The 20th  Lions far the loveliest of
                                                                      the series. Under the fox is a flower
                                                                      of heavy blossomed grass exquisitely finished
                                                                      and under the weasel the stem of the
                                                                      leaf twisted & its edge laid over the
                                                                      [?} leaf most curiously Pure naturalism

                                                                      The 23rd.  The great leaves here
                                                                      much more elaborate & modern.
                                                                      the heads are fine the best of
                                                                      the whole series. but of modern [?]
