                                                                      Eve are drill holed in the same manner, those of Noah
                                                                      are half closed - those of his sons simply drilled
                                                                      holed as usual:  those of the figures in the judgment
                                                                      of Solomon quite smooth.  The eyebrows are nocriterion -
                                                                      those of the Judgment are smooth - of the modern capital
                                                                      heads hairy while in the old ones they are smooth.
                                                                      The chest and shoulders of the Eve are remarkably fine
                                                                      when seen near;  the serpenta female head sensual -
                                                                      diffuse so to speak in expression - open eyed and very
                                                                      painful - the angular body in its cling to the tree is
                                                                      thoroughly magnificent.  So are the fig leaves - nothing
                                                                      can be more exquisite than the way the fruit is inserted
                                                                      between the stems;  or more delicate and flaccid than
                                                                      the fruit itself - it has however suffered severely in
                                                                      surface;  especially towards the sea, it is of Istrian
                                                                      stone like all the rest of the palace scukpture;  and
                                                                       has quite lost its surface except in one or two sheltered
                                                                      spots, when the delicate plumage of the birds is still
                                                                      left.
                                                                      On comparing the Judgment of S. scupture with it, fine
                                                                      though it is - and the headof Solomon is very grand;
                                                                      then with presently be felt a total inferiority, more
                                                                      	especially in the lie of the fig leaves;  which look glued
