                                                                      Roofs.  Flat and steep   Does the habit of slating the easy portability of
                                                                      		long masses of roofing in the form of slate, materially
                                                                      		affect the form of northern roofs, Are slates better on
                                                                      		steep roofs than tiles.  Can tiles be used on very steep
                                                                      		roofs. Observe the real use of the tile is to
                                                                      		concentrate the water into heavier streamlets which may
                                                                      		run faster off the flat roof, a steep roof needs no such
                                                                      		artifice - smooth slates will do for it.
                                                                      		Observe that the disagreeableness of the Chinese Cupola
                                                                      		form [drawing] is not abstract disagreeableness;
                                                                      		but related to the weakness of its construction;  for the
