This is the first one which I have drawn but on examining it closely, I find I have much overestimated it: The baskets owe the fine curve they have in my drawing altogether to perspective being themselves stiff and uniform: The fruit is roughly cut, not tenderly nor lovingly, with the broken line of the upper tracery capitals, to which period I should ascribe it. Its order is 1. Xerexis of which however the stalks are not undercut though well suggested. 2 Piri 3 Chucumenia 4 Persici 5 Cuche of this form [diagram] 6 Moloni the common long melon which is being eaten by the grotesque on the eighth P164 capital of front - vid p 164 above, and which occurs in my view of fruit boat - 7 Fici very good, perhaps the best 8 Huva, aspirated. 28th The Tenth 1. Largitas with money in a dish or salver in right hand & in lap, but no expression while the Largitas on the 7th of facade is pouring out the coin with his hand, and full of life. The dish is introduced merely for the change and every change made on these capitals is stupid. 2. Indeciph: a man with sword & helmet, rough cut and utterly vile. 3. Dischordia discordans: a very meek, nunlike figure in a veil, the drapery a little better cast {&} fuller than on the
