Severo but with finely cut leaf A. bases (A opposite 3 left from a line of 5 check 5 as far as I could see. standing on the all with beautiful beasts circles & [finials?] plinth. B. opp. All the circles are filled with beautiful beasts. The shafts pure L. very much but with finely cut leaf A bases Altogether this is a most graceful fragment. and one whos loss I [diagram] A a like this much regret. long [diagram] B on plinth all cut away & spoiled . At the Fondamenta San Severo - at the end of the quay which faces the noble palazzo Priuli - quite defaced - but there are still left in the main story . 3 4ths of a line once I think composed of 5 - the fourth still visible - Beautiful taper and graceful arches - the dentil visible quite plain and I doubt not a common, though early C sec - but all now bricked up. . The circles arranged as opposite - the upper one interfering with a very beautiful flat frieze of early leaves. reminding me closely and the wonder is I was never as reminded before . of the precioushousecornices of San Michele - Done.
