[GB.42L] [GB.42] 42 Chapel next choir on the base in lateral chapels North St John and Paul. all [?] & from stilted arches of apse Tomb on left side of chapel next [Part of page cut away] choir on north side has a very archaic madonna- rose spirited leaf plinth of type like that on No 115. gabled dentil. & spiral shafts like doges palace tracery block filling On other side Peter Cornaro. most valuable for dentils There is a nameless tomb on its north side which has a most archaic madonna . stiff and lifeless in action as well as in cutting . yet it has a spirited leaf ribbed plinth - one of the sharpest I have seen of the type of No115 - and special shafts filled with blocks exactly like Ducal palace. It has gabled dentils also. How curious. after the Grace & finish of the Byzantine work that in the 14th century they should have sunk back to this & to such monstrous work as that of Marco Giustiniani p 52. M.2. I must see what Lord L says of this again On the other side Peter Corner[o].
