Venetian traceries
Ruskin does not write a chapter titled ‘traceries’. Volume 1 Chapter 17 discusses the ‘Filling of windows’. Tracery is generally discussed in relation to specific buildings. His examination of traceries within the notebooks is widespread. See for example Notebook M2 p.55; Notebook M2 p.80, St M[arks] Book p.73; St M[arks] Book p.75L; Bit Book p.72; Gothic Book p.24; Gothic Book p.45; Gothic Book p.53.
At Notebook M2 p.198L Ruskin notes: ‘Traceries generally, 55, 80, St M 75L,73 Bit 72 Goth 24 53 H1 43 H2 94, 43, 51, 54, Ver 19 Palace 60 Door 39 N 14 17 18 40 54L 55 58 Quat. Foil Goth 68, H1 13, 14, H2 20 30 48 58 59’
