See Lindsay (1847) Vol.1 p.23: ‘Even in the East, too, under the shadow of the Greek cross and cupola, the basilica is often met with.’ Although Lindsay himself lists Torcello Duomo among the Latin churches, Ruskin here uses Lindsay to argue that it is an example of a Byzantine basilican form.
