Notebook M2 pp.50-51 ‘The leaf belt of this capital is like, though not quite so rich as: that at p 23 l. [?] Palace book. This beautiful leaf moulding (of apple leaves & small apples?) the little round fruit exquisitely set, in its calyx & the leaves slid over each other most delicately. belongs to the 9th capital of p 28. Gothic book that capital is remarkable for its picturesque setting of leaves: though it has nothing but leaves. Its central leaf lobe fig 1. p 24 Palace book’. See also Gothic Book p.28.
