When he wrote up those notes at Notebook M p.185 Ruskin decided that the word was ‘stringit’, in classical Latin a more common word, and one which better fitted his perception of the figure as thin and wasted, that ‘strigit’, though ‘strigit’, uncommon in Classical times but with the meaning ‘delays’ was perhaps closer to what he saw.
