The point seems to be that the last word could be seen as the shape which Ruskin reproduces, perhaps to be read as FEBRUARIU but that the rest (presumably something like IANUARIU) was uncertain. The mark shown here as ‘Q’ is used by Ruskin as an expression of uncertainty.
