The transcript of the inscription given here is corrected on the left had page, Notebook M p.181L. Ruskin had clearly originally read, and noted here, what he thought the text should be rather than what he had seen. At Works, 10.414 he returns to this version for the first part of the inscription, but ignores his reading of ‘quod’, presumably because he could give no meaning to it.
