This is numbered from the Molo/Piazzetta corner capital, a system which Ruskin abandoned; hence, presumably, the numbers he wrote above using his final system for the Ducal Palace series of capitals of lower arcade.
This is the tenth capital from the Piazzetta/Molo corner capital. At Palace Book p.9 it is called the second. Both are different from Works, 10.389. There the capital in which the figure is pouring the money from his hand is called the seventh, and the capital with the coins on a salver is called the twenty-fifth. The reference to the twenty-fifth at Works, 10.389 is presumably a misprint for twenty-eighth. Here the beginning of this description seems to be of the 28th capital, and the 7th capital defined according to Ruskin’s final system is then brought in for comparison.
