The great screen of St Marks

At Notebook M pp.199-200 the great screen of St. Mark’s is ‘bad in composition and effect’, and so evidence for the degradation of Gothic. Its importance is that it can be dated and related to House No 88. At Works, 11.274, where the date is given as 1380, not 1384 as at Notebook M p.200, it ‘shows the entire corruption of the Gothic power’.
