Words have been crossed out and replaced by Ottomite. ‘Ottomite’ appears in Shakespeare’s Othello, Act 1, Scene 3, Lines 35 and 235, used of those the Duke of Venice calls ‘the general enemy Ottoman’. It is not altogether clear what Ruskin has in mind.
