The reference is to the tomb of Cansignorio della Scala, one of the Scala Monuments in Verona. Cansignorio commissioned the tomb himself and was buried there in 1376. ‘San Signorio’ in the Ruskin Library Transcript T7A at Notebook M p.26L is a transcription error for Can Signorio.
