Back of page 156 presumably refers to Notebook M p.157L. Ruskin frequently refers to the ‘back of’ a sheet but this is the only example in the manuscript of M and M2 (as opposed to the transcripts) of this way of referring to a left hand page. The drawings on Notebook M p.157L include one of the Foscari tomb bracket arch, and what seems to be a Byzantine arcade.
