Accidia me stringit

When he made his notes at Palace Book p.42L Ruskin was more equivocal about the last word. When he wrote up those notes at Notebook M p.185 Ruskin decided that the word was ‘stringit’, in classical Latin a more common word, and one which better fitted his perception of the figure as thin and wasted, than ‘strigit’, though ‘strigit’, uncommon but with the meaning ‘delays’ was perhaps closer to what he saw.
