The manuscript has a comma after ‘above’. After ‘above,’ Ruskin has later inserted ‘it ought to have been below’ correcting the mistake. The underlining of ‘above’ and ‘below’ appears to have been added at the same time as the insertion, presumably to draw attention to the mistake.
