For the tomb of Simon Dandolo in the Frari, and Ruskin’s version of the inscription on it, see Works, 11.97 and Works, 11.301f. Compare the reference to the tomb of Giustiniani at Notebook M p.157. Dates at Notebook M2 p.13backL are as given by Ruskin, including 1447 - 1451. At Works, 11.97 the Roman numerals of the tomb are given as MCCCLX. The Ruskin Library Transcript T7B reads ‘MCCCIX’. The manuscript is unclear, but perhaps closer to the impossible date given in The Ruskin Library Transcript T7B than to the published version in the Library Edition of Ruskin’s Works. Falier was condemned in 1355.
