The lower half of this page continues directly from Notebook M2 p.45 the account of the upper arcade of the Ducal Palace. The clear implication is that the upper part of Notebook M2 p.46 had already been written. It is perhaps further evidence relevant to Notebook M2 pp.137ff of the difference between M and M2. In M it seems reasonable to work on the presumption that the pages, unless there is evidence to the contrary, are in chronological order. In M2 it seems better to work on the opposite presumption: it is not safe to assume a chronological sequence without other evidence.
