‘snails’ is the reading of the Ruskin Library Transcript T7B but a doubtful reading of the manuscript. Compare Notebook M2 p.171 (9) for the form and the context of the ‘snail’ there. ‘Scrolls’ seems more plausible in its sense and in the shape of the word at Notebook M2 p.129.
