The intention here has not been to establish a text of Sanuto, but as accurate as a possible a transcript of what Ruskin wrote. The critical edition of this passage in Marin Sanuto Le Vite dei Dogi 1474 - 1494 Padova, Antenore 1989, a cura di Angela Caracciolo Aricò, has been consulted but as a guide to what Ruskin might have written. Not reporting all the readings in that edition indicates only that they do not match what Ruskin wrote, not a view on the text of Sanuto.
