one of

‘one of’ is an insertion by Ruskin. ‘are the’ is the reading of the Ruskin Library Transcript T7B, but implausible as a version of the manuscript and the meaning. Ruskin seems to have inserted ‘one of’ in the interest of precision: he measured only one of the arches and has no evidence that the others were identical.
