Nicola or Niccolò Pisano d. by 1284 was said by Vasari in his Life of Niccolo and Giovanni Pisano to have been architect of the Frari, but as often the case - for example Vasari’s account of Simone Memmi which Ruskin does follow - there seems to be little evidence for his direct involvement other than the quality of the building and its style - the criteria explicitly used by Vasari for his involvement with the Frari or with SS. Giovanni e Paolo.
