This is the reading of The Ruskin Library Transcript T7B, but it seems unlikely. It is possible to read the manuscript as ‘Falier’s’ and it is possible to read it as ‘Faliero’ but the combination of the two is difficult to see in the manuscript. Ruskin uses the form ’Faliero’at Notebook M2 p.11, but ‘Falier’ is more common in the notebooks. On Ca Falier see Palace Book p.55 and compare Notebook M2 p.93 with Notebook M2 p.70: “Nothing is more remarkable than the exquisite precision of these early capitals.”
