Presumably ‘looked after’ is used here in the now largely obsolete sense of ‘sought out’ rather than what is now more common ‘taken care of’. See Works, 11.361 - he clearly did not find it, though it is not far from the Madonna dell’Orto church.
The church is dedicated to St. Louis of Toulouse, Franciscan and bishop of Toulouse; ‘Alvise’ and ‘Lodovico’ are both forms of ‘Louis’.
