On the numbering see Works, 10.386, and the footnote there. The first column refers to the shaft as numbered using Ruskin’s final system; the second to the page of M2 on which it is considered; the third is its classification according to the orders which Ruskin attempts to define in these pages. It is odd that the table is headed as an index of shafts, when it seems from these pages that Ruskin is interested in a classification of capitals according to their sections and leaves. Compare Works, 10.386 and Works, 10.430.
