‘Carta’ is an insertion; the Ruskin Library Transcript T7B reads ‘Centre’. Ruskin is referring to the angle at the Porta della Carta end, and contrary to his normal practice is is starting his numbering from that end. The diameter of shafts is greater towards the Porta della Carta end. The ‘Carta angle one’ is the 36th Capital of the Ducal Palace Lower Arcade.
