Beatrice Cenci

The reference is to the portrait of Beatrice Cenci, by Elisabetta Sirani, formerly attributed to Guido Reni, c. 1662, in Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Antica, Rome. The portrait was admired by Dickens, and said to have provided the starting point for Shelley’s interest in the story.
