Abbazia

It is possible that the Abbazia to which Ruskin refers at Notebook M2 p.14 is the Badia at Fiesole; at Works, 23.24 [n/a] it is put in the same stylistic context as San Miniato in Florence, Pistoia, and the Baptistery in Florence. The facade at Fiesole seems to fit the case that Ruskin is making here. The context rules out the possibility that the reference is to an Abbazia in Venice; his point in the continuation of the sentence at Notebook M2 p.15 is that there are no traces of this style in Venice.
