The underlining and question mark are presumably the result of Ruskin’s change of mind about the numbering of the porches. See Ruskin’s comment at Notebook M.sheet2 that St M[arks] Book p.68 has the numbers right, even though elsewhere in St. Mark’s Book the 5th is called the 1st.
