Front Cover ‘Gothic Book’ on white label. Blue marbled card containing 160 pages, numbered by Ruskin 2-80. There is no page 9 but rather 9a and 9b. Green lined paper. Possibly begun in early January 1850. Ruskin first refers to Gothic Book at Notebook M p.126, and this page is dated 8th January. (Hewison (1978) p.60) Sold at Sothebys 24th July 1930 Lot 115 No 3 (with catalogue illustration). Purchased by J. H. Whitehouse (see Woolford (1972) pp.193-246).
