Marco Corner / Cornaro

Doge Marco Cornaro died in 1368. Situated on the north side of the Presbytery. Described at Notebook M2 p.43 ‘The front and section of the archivolt are at p. 22 L Gothic book, only note delicate flowing leaf crockets small set on the backs of the curves’. At Notebook M2 p.17 see Ruskin’s notes from Zanotto listing Cornaro; also Notebook M2 p.38 ‘Leonine heads below brackets’. Indexed by Ruskin; Notebook M2 p.197L ‘Marco - Cornaro [. . .] Goth 22, 23’

Note (3) at Works, 9.326 suggests that Ruskin confused the tombs of Pietro Cornaro with Marco Cornaro. However the evidence is that Ruskin did not confuse the two tombs.
