he suggested that were Skater to come within a hundred yards of him he would (before he could carry out his threat) be subjected to a rapid process of trituration.

Wagner's response to Skater's rude threat is clearly a retort in kind. But again there is a mismatch between what is being portrayed and the tenor of the language used to portray it. 'Trituration', by the way, is a Latinate term, referring to the process of grinding something to a powder.
