Meeting at night

Task C - our comments

large

/lɑ:ʤ/

The word 'large' is sound symbolic for the reasons we pointed out in our response to why the English comedy duo chose to call themselves "Little and Large" rather than, say, "Small and Big" (see Task B on the Sound Symbolism page, and our commentary on it). This emphasises the impression of how big the moon seems as it hangs low in the sky.
