Collective Nouns Some things in English have special collective nouns when groups of them are being referred to (e.g. a flock of birds, a herd of cows, a school of porpoises). But others don't (e.g. professors, undergraduates). One quite fun game is to try to make up collective names for groups which don't have them. How about: An absence of professors A hangover (overhang?) of students Can you think of any more fun collective nouns? If so,
post them up in the chat
café, and we'll add them to the above list if they are especially
good. Close this window before continuing your session. |
