Bilgewater: Foregrounded features

We have already noticed that foregrounding produced through repetition and parallelism plays a part in our overall understanding of the Bilgewater passage. So, too, does foregrounding produced through deviation. In the following tasks we will look in turn at four instances of deviation which play a significant interpretative role in the passage.
