A guided excursion with RHC Director Dr Fiona Edmonds for a talk on the Battle of Clitheroe 1138 and optional visit to Edisford Bridge, likely site of the battle. The talk will be held in the Clitheroe Castle Education Room, but transport to Clitheroe and admission to the Castle is *not* included.
This excursion is designed to enable Patrons, Friends and supporters of the Regional Heritage Centre to gather in a location that has high standards of Covid-19 security. Please note that transport to and around Clitheroe is *not* provided, and important information about Health and Safety will be provided to all who register
12.00 -1.15pm Optional visit to Clitheroe Castle Museum – admission is *not* included and must be paid separately (£4.75 standard, £3.60 concessions). Allow at least one hour.
1.15 – 1.30pm Gather at Clitheroe Castle Keep (outside) ready for the start of the talk. Toilets, including an accessible toilet, are available inside near the Education Room.
1.30 – 2.30pm Talk in Education Room by Dr Fiona Edmonds
2.40-3.20pm Optional visit to Jungle Café, 6-8 Moor Lane – the cafe is approximately a 5-10 minute walk down Castle Hill into town and will be reserved for our group only. Refreshments are *not* included and must be paid separately on a cash only basis. Table service,with WC upstairs (no accessible toilets).
3.30-3.45pm Optional short drive to Edisford Bridge, alleged site of the Battle of Clitheroe 1138. Pay and display parking is available nearby at the Edisford Road car park (BB7 3LA).
3.45-4.10pm On site explanatory remarks by Dr Fiona Edmonds and time for questions
4.15pm Official end of programme
Please be aware that Clitheroe Castle Museum is on a steep hill, and please note there is no parking outside the castle. Visitors who have mobility issues may be dropped outside, and there are three Blue Badge parking spaces available on a first-come-first-served basis. Pay and display parking is available in town, including Chester Street Parking long stay (4 hours £1.80), which is approximately 10 minutes’ walk up Castle Hill.
Please wear footwear suitable for uneven and muddy terrain, and bring waterproof clothing/umbrellas in case of inclement weather.

Clitheroe Castle is located off Moor Lane (B6243) in central Clitheroe. Please note the advice on parking above.
