A talk and reading from renowned author Heather Richardson about textiles & literature.
A Dress for Kathleen began life as a piece of textile art – a hand-embroidered Irish linen dress - honouring the short life of a teenager who died cycling home from work in the early months of World War 2. The story has grown from a life reimagined in stitch into a book that explores family, making and the threads that connect the past and present in our lives.
Join Belfast-based writer and textile artist Heather Richardson to hear about the story behind the dress and the book.
The talk will be of interest to makers and readers, particularly those interested in textiles, family history, memoir and social history.
