A classical problem in philosophy pertaining to how we know that others have internal mental states such as beliefs, desires, emotions, and intentions. We cannot directly see these internal states in others. Why do we believe others have such invisible states, and are we justified in holding this belief (philosophical queries); where does such a view of others come from (developmental query)?
