A feature of the relationship between researcher and participants when an attempt is made to transform how research is conducted. The traditionalconception of research on human subjects presumes that control and often adegree of manipulation is practised by the researcher. Much qualitativeresearch aims for a collaborative relationship between researcher andparticipants, which may extend to the co-authorship of articles and otherpublication (see Flinders, 1992). Such research is based on a relational ethics of respect andconsideration.
