Event Details

An open summer at the Castle seminar for students in the Department of English Literature & Creative Writing -- with Professor Liz Oakley-Brown

Produced at Lancaster University in the early 1970s and currently situated in County South’s grounds, Anne Hirsch-Henecke’s sculpture ‘The Metamorphosis of Daphne’ (1972-3) is a significant contribution to the history of women’s engagement with Ovid’spoem , The Metamorphoses.

Taking Hirsch-Henecke’s ‘Daphne’ as its starting point, this seminar considers the importance of Ovidian myth for English Literature and Creative Writing at Lancaster.
