Student engagement varies in duration from five days to five years. We evaluate the needs of each organisation and match these to the appropriate student through a competitive process.

As well as their chosen degree subject, our students are skilled in problem-solving, analysis, critical reflection, oral and written communications, and negotiation.

Internships Programme

All current Engineering students and recent graduates can apply for relevant paid work experience through the Faculty of Science and Technology Internship Programme.

Our students can offer businesses an excellent opportunity to address a skill or resource shortage by benefiting from up-to-date scientific skills and knowledge. Your business could use an internship to help cover during busy periods, trial new roles or research a new idea.

In addition to their subject-specific knowledge, academic study teaches our students:

Company Feedback: Amey & United Utilities

Amey, based in Oxford, is a public services provider, managing and supporting the UK's vital infrastructure and public services. The company works in alliance partnership with United Utilities to provide emergency response to any United Utilities' customer issues in relation to the wastewater sewer network. Recommendations from research completed by an Engineering intern were implemented by Amey and helped them win new business with larger companies.
