Campus in the City 2024 Case Studies

Three days, four venues, more than 30 interactive activities bringing research to life and sparking the curiosity of nearly 1,000 visitors – campus in the city 2024 was a blast! From virtual reality experiences to extracting DNA from strawberries, using an ultrasound to see how your tongue works, to identifying teddy bear ailments with the medical school – view the festival web pages here.

Campus in the city is Lancaster University’s flagship community engagement festival, sparking curiosity and bringing research to life in our local communities, through interactive activities delivered by researchers, staff and students. 2024 marked a comeback year for the festival after a hiatus, featuring examples of good practice in public engagement, novel activities and innovative approaches.

    Time, Power, Ethics and Intent: A conversation on collaboration, with the Gregson Community and Arts Centre, Lancaster. Dr Rachael Eastham brought Feel Good Friday to campus in the city 2024, in collaboration with the Gregson Community and Arts Centre. In the podcast, Rachael and Charles discuss the event and reflect on the realities of working together, what their way of working together has enabled to happen, and what it takes to pursue truly equitable research collaborations.
