N8CIR is pleased to announce their annual intern programme

N8CIR is pleased to announce their annual intern programme, aimed at penultimate or final year undergraduates. The programme provides the opportunity for students to experience life as a research software engineer (RSE), enabling them to gain key skills and inspiration for a future career in academic programming. The programme runs for 8 weeks, beginning on 18th June.
Academic staff (PDRA and above) are invited to submit project proposals to host internships **before 21st March 2025**. The proposal should contain a short (~250 word) description, together with the name of the project lead. An RSE mentor should also be nominated, either at Lancaster or elsewhere across the N8 Partnership.

The proposed deadlines are:
21st March: Supervisors to provide project proposals for review by the N8CIR Team
25th March: Supervisors notified of project acceptance
17th April: Supervisors nominate a candidate for their project, with optional reserve candidate
24th April: Candidate invited for interview on 28th or 29th April
28/29th April: Candidate interviewed (by N8CIR Team), decisions made and candidates notified
18th June: projects start with N8CIR online welcome event.
