I am a lecturer in Education and Social Justice. My current areas of research are focussed on using research practice partnerships between Higher Education Institutions and schools and colleges. The research aims to encourage widening participation in educational research by teachers in areas where there are challenges to educational equity and equality. I am also interested in the intersection between educational policy and practice, particularly around teacher development.
Methodologically, I am interested in interdisciplinary and creative approaches to data collection and analysis. Critical DIscourse Analysis is also an area of interest, particularly in relation to education policy.
Career Details
I have worked in the field of education for over 25 years. Initially working in a SEN provision, I then switched focus lecturing in Information Technology at a Further Education college in the North West. After a decade in this role, I spent five years as a teacher educator before joining the University of Bolton as a lecturer in Education in 2016.
During my teaching career I developed my interest in the wider issues around education, studying in the Department of Educational Research at Lancaster University. I successfully completed both a Masters in Education and a PhD in Educational Research, this has given me a strong understanding of what it means to be both a student and an academic in the Department and the University.
Working across this wide range of educational sectors has made social justice and equity the overarching focus of my research and academic interests.

My current research interests include: Research Practice Partnerships, Inclusive Education, Further Education and Skills sector policy and practice, Critical Discourse Analysis, Interdisciplinary and creative research methodologies.
