This workshop, hosted by the Centre for Higher Education Research and Evaluation, is for those undertaking or contemplating part-time doctoral study.

Part-time doctorates often play second fiddle to their full-time equivalents within both the literature and in the support available for doctoral researchers. A new volume from Jon Rainford and Kay Guccione, Thriving in Part-Time Doctoral Study: Integrating Work, Life and Research (Routledge, 2023) seeks to address this gap and draw out the benefits of part-time doctoral study. In this workshop, the authors will give an overview of the book through two practical workshops. These aim to help the delegates to: consider they journey they are undertaking and how to personalise their part-time doctorate, and, reflect on how to build effective support networks and engage with their wider community. The workshop will offer practical tips on how to successfully curate and add value to your part-time doctorate.
